Write for us
We welcome pitches that make a space or astronomy subject clearer, more vivid or easier to approach. A strong proposal gives readers a specific question to follow and explains why the answer matters beyond a list of facts.
What makes a good pitch
Send a concise summary of the subject, the main question your piece will answer and the reader you have in mind. Suggest a working title and a few points showing how the explanation will unfold. We are especially interested in distinct angles on the solar system, stars, galaxies, observing and core astronomy ideas.
Clear, careful explanations
Proposals should use accessible language, define necessary technical terms and distinguish what is known from what remains uncertain. Tell us what reference material or expertise the article would rely on, and flag any potential conflicts of interest. Avoid unsupported claims, promotional copy and advice that asks readers to make risky observations or technical interventions.
How to send a proposal
Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option to submit your pitch. Include your name, a way for us to reply and the proposed subject. Please send the idea rather than a full draft unless a draft has been requested. A submission is a proposal, not a promise of publication.
Curiosity gives the universe its scale
Big questions become easier to explore when we take them one idea at a time. We aim to make space feel legible without making it feel small.
